I have been on the prowl for a new spice store, online is much easier in this season of
life :) I have found several stores to replace my once beloved Penzey's Spices. I was hugely disappointed to discover Bill Penzey is a very liberal, and outspoken (being kind here) man. I found several spice stores, check them out:
Bulk Herb Store:
Organic herbs and teas. We have bought a lot of their products and are always very happy. They do not carry many spices or spice blends. I have to put a plug in here for Soshanna's parents, Mike and Debi Pearl of No Greater Joy Ministries (we love them)!

Mountain Rose Herbs:
They carry tons of organic, bulk herbs and spices. They also carry lots of teas, oils, and natural health products. I have purchased several things from this company and have always been pleased.

Salt Works:
This is a great store that sells and educates on the many different types of salts! It has a huge variety and their prices are pretty good too!

American Spice.com:
This store carries everything you would ever want, but I am not a huge fan of the website design. Wow! Truffles are expensive; Mike thinks truffle hunting should be his next endeavor after retiring from the Army!

The Spice House:
This is my favorite, all-in-one spice store so far; I am a Wal-mart kind of girl. It has almost everything that I regularly purchase, minus dehydrated celery pieces (Mack pointed out that we used to do this ourselves, very true). I love the design of the website and all the awesome recipes! They also have two stores in Milwaukee, the Third Ward district, and the Public Market. Mike groaned when I said they were from Chicago, but I think I can look beyond that!

A disclaimer here: I did not check out the political views/agendas of any of these stores. I know that the Bulk Herb Store is owned by a wonderful, Christian family. I suppose I should check this out, since I fled Penzey's Spices due to political reasons. Although, I have not seen any of these stores write catalog articles nor name spices to support/market their agendas! I will add the research to my ever growing to-do list, it is going to be awhile (the bathrooms are calling my name)!
