Congressional Math and the RNC

Please remove me from all contact lists.  After the sellout by the GOP concerning the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013, I no longer wish to be associated with the Republican Party.  I will express my disgust during the 2014 elections.  Selling out the military to secure their own jobs, is not a trait I look for when voting for Congressional members.  Maybe part of the solution is to activate a new base of candidates, that will actually represent their constituents.  Congressional math can only be explained by greed and self-interest.  Saving $6 billion over 10 years on the backs of our military, instead of saving over $40 billion for the same timeframe by closing a tax loop for illegal immigrant child tax credits!  How naive and ignorant of me to assume that a SSN should be required to file a tax return!  I see where Washington's priorities are!  Well this active duty military spouse and veteran will not be supporting the GOP with our hard earned money, especially since my husband will be retiring shortly and our funds will be reduced.  I need to go warn the Department of Corrections, Fire Departments, and Police Departments to watch their backs and their retirement, at least Congress Members do not need to worry about their retirements.  Although,  I would not either if I voted for my own benefits!!

Christmas Favorite

One of my favorite Christmas traditions!  We did ours when Mack was only 2 years old.

We read one page a night until Christmas!  I LOVE all our family Christmas traditions!  We just unwrapped and read How the Grinch Stole Christmas and You Are My Miracle.  Two of my favorite Christmas books!  The kids were riveted.  What a magical night!

Christmas Tree

We went to a cut your own tree farm.  It was great!  The kids pushed and pulled the cart out to the field and back.

The people were so sweet!  A Boy Scout troop was there to help, what polite kids.  Since, we brought our own helpers, we declined, but they sure were sweet.

We reminisced about our HUGE trees in years past;  vaulted ceilings were really fun.  The kids had big eyes, but we found the perfect tree.  A few saws by Wyatt and Mike and it was down.

The kids suggested little trees for their bedrooms, so off to Big Lots and Hobby Lobby.  Wow!  We discovered there wasn't much left.  What a difference between a small town with limited stores compared to a "big" city.  Although, I love the atmosphere of a smaller town.  We just have to start shopping earlier.  (We ran into that with Mike's ball last week and Wyatt's suit, very limited selection.)

Merry Christmas!  Let the chocolate countdowns, advent wreaths, Jesse trees, nightly Christmas carols, and unwrapping bedtime Christmas books begin!

Turkey

It turned out perfect this year.  Wyatt helped get everything ready this morning!  He wants to try the liver, heart, neck, and giblets, so we cooked them.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thankful for so many things.  It has been a rough year and a half, but so much good has come from it!  I am so glad my husband is here with us.  I always think about the families that are missing their loved ones, so many Heroes will never be able to celebrate with their families.  Thank you God for all the blessings (even the hard to handle ones).

Bring on the snacks!

Didn't Make It

Cody was waiting for his toothbrush.  This is what I found when I came in our room.  He was just too tuckered out.

Boys' Closet

We used the old school bookshelf for the boys' closet.  It really looks much better.  Their closet is very small.  This added lots of room and fit perfectly!

Book Basket

Cody just loves his new seat.  He plays baby Moses all the time too.

Bookshelves, Finally!

That are finally done!  I love them!  We are thinking of making two more to replace the white ones.  We decided to wait to stain them, but they will eventually match the armoire.

Molars

She is so excited.  She really works those things until they fall out.  She also has a trick waiting for Mike: she puts the tooth back in, laughs, and it falls out.  It looks pretty cool!

Soldiers

I love the way they matched their outfits.  Mack just happened to have on a green shirt.

Christmas Village

The kids are so excited!  We were going to do the outside lights, but we didn't have time.  They just sit there amazed.  Cody is especially mesmerized by the lights and music (Elvis sings 5 different Christmas songs).

Castle

They made a joint castle yesterday!  Wyatt is itching to "clean up" the castle after school.

The last picture is what it looked like in the morning, before the castle.

Indiana University Physics, Astronomy, and Geology Open House

We had so much fun.  Thanks to the Cantwell Family for inviting us!  Great company and excellent food!

pH

Testing bases and acids with cabbage juice!  They wanted to eat the strained cabbage, but unfortunately it had dropped on the floor while being cut (think lots of Fury hair).  Favorite science experiment yet!

SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!

I love it!  Grrrr if we weren't sick this weekend.  I was going to take inventory of winter gear and buy stuff Saturday, but everyone was really sick.  I was going to go winter crazy.  Now the we city will be winter crazy!  Wyatt is thrilled!!!!!!!

Rock Painting

With primary colors, plus white.  They are making so many pretty colors.  Then we are going to filter pond water and plant seeds.  We got a cool root viewer kit and tons of clearance seed kits and small pots.
